April 2021 Budget

Posted on March 31, 2021

Well, what have we here? Quarter 1 is over?

I would have thought April would be a pretty mild month, but two of our biggest planned expenses for the year have continually been pushed. We’re late on taxes (shocker), and the HVAC plans have just taken a long time to pull together. But they’re both rolling now, so I imagine those expenses will hit in the next 30 days (thanks for the extension, IRS!). They’ll be coming out of the sinking fund and our overfunded emergency fund.

Aside from those two major expenses, we’ll also be refilling a prescription for our poor fur baby who has some stiff legs in his older age. I don’t know what that cost will be, so I’m padding that budget category in case it’s kind of a lot.

My hair also needs help in a big way. Highlights and a cute/style usually set me back about $200.

I also plan to make my final Roth IRA contribution to meet the $6000 limit. Hubby’s side hustling will probably determine that, but so far those have actually been pretty lucrative.

April 2021 Budget… Not exactly “Zero Based”

For my own personal “fun money” account, yikes. March brings with it two family birthdays and a wedding anniversary. Not only did we go over in restaurants for March, but I bought gifts and went and had a nice birthday dinner with a family member on my dime.

I hate to admit it, but I will be carrying a credit card balance into April. I’ve killed off the budget for multiple categories in my own personal budget to prioritize that payoff first.

Do you have any big planned expenses for April?
