Well, friends, we’ve made it through the first month of 2023.
A few posts back, I outlined a shift in how I was going to handle goals this year. Because I’m currently separated and may be moving towards divorce, I opted to keep it super simple. No need to stress out about trivial or unnecessary goals when life is falling apart.
My main goal this year is to establish a consistent yoga practice. That’s fairly vague, so in order to add a little structure to the goal, I made it “Practice yoga (whether that’s asana, breathwork, or meditation) for 30 minutes 150 times during 2023.” On average, that means 12.5 sessions on average each month. I hit 12 in January, and I feel like I’ve hit some good momentum on that (even though sometimes I’m just sad and lazy and don’t feel like doing anything).
I always feel better afterwards.
I ended up adding two more goals. First, I’d like to contribute the $6,500 to my Roth IRA. I haven’t yet, since I may be determining an asset split between my husband and me, and cash is a lot easier to break out. That’s on the back burner for now.
And, finally, I set a goal to read 6 books in 2023. I’ve already finished 3, so I’m way ahead of schedule there.
How are your goals progressing so far this year?
