2021 Q2 Review and YTD Numbers!

Posted on July 5, 2021

What a half-year it has been!

I have to say, I’m thrilled with our accomplishments, especially considering hubby’s work situation isn’t what I would call fully-settled. It’s still a work in progress.

Let’s do a year-to-date wrap-up!

First up, income. Gross income has been about $88,500. This includes main jobs, side hustles, stimulus payments, and contributions from both my husband’s and my personal accounts.

Calculated separately is dividend income, which totaled around $2,180. This is something I’d like to make improvements on. I have to remember a few years ago when I was totally stoked about a $400 yearly dividend income. It WAS exciting, and we’ve grown a lot since then, so I can be excited about this, too, and keep pushing money into dividend-paying investments so $4000/mo becomes the norm!

Expenses! My goal for the year is to stay under $60,000. As of June 30, we’ve spent about $36,500. This includes the money that gets sent to our personal “fun money” accounts for our own stuff. We had a big tax bill and replacement of an HVAC system, so I think we’re on track for the rest of the year, as we don’t have any other major planned expenses.

Net Worth and Liquid Investment changes:

YOWZA!

All made possible by investment contributions (these calculations include employer matches):

A little ahead of schedule on our 2021 goals!

So what does that mean for the rest of 2021?

For starters, we’ll be taking a 10 day vacation to reward ourselves for our hard work and to blow off some steam. It’s past due.

We’re in need of a little serenity in a big way.

I’ll be helping hubby with his continued job applications until he finds a good fit. Jobs with good pay and benefits will be top priority. If he ends up with a 401(k) he can max out, we’ll be unstoppable!

I’ll be putting more into high-dividend income ETFs.

I’ll be prioritizing education on cryptocurrency.

Other than that, we’ll just keep doing what we’re doing and watching the numbers for when we tip over into $400,000 net worth. I expect we’ll be there by the end of the summer.

Exciting times.

What goals have you hit in this first half of 2021? Wishing you a stellar second half <3
