A quick update on my goals for this year:
FAMILY: Book at trip to visit my grandmother with my sister in September (pandemic permitting). $750 This may need to be revisited. I brought the idea up to my grandmother this week, and she’s still very nervous about COVID, even though this would be later in the year. We’ll see how the year progresses. Until then, I’m going to focus on other savings goals.
MARRIAGE: Book a 3-day cabin getaway with my husband in June. $500 I thought this was a goner when my husband said he wanted to open his own business. That may be set aside, as he’s looking to pick up a W-2 job again to explore a different industry. I’ve been socking away a lot more money into our sinking fund, and we’ll be able to reevaluate after taxes (which will be horrible, again).
CAREER: Establish a blog that generates $1,000 of revenue by end of year (EOY). I’ve gotten a pretty good feel for how WordPress works, and posting is starting to seem easier. No one reads this, though, so my next step will be maintaining a consistent schedule and getting more traffic.
FINANCIAL: Save or invest 20% of our total gross income (whatever that ends up being this year). Since hubby isn’t at his full-time job anymore, we’ve been conservative in where our money goes, so savings slowed a bit. This will pick back up when he gets another full-time job. On the plus side, since we may not be saving up cash to put into a business, we may be able to move this into investment accounts to grow until we decide what we’re doing. Our January savings rate was 22.33%.
HEALTH: Complete 30 minutes of activity 3x per week (156 days throughout the year). I had a medical procedure done on January 20, which knocked me out for two weeks. I was doing well before that, logging about 8 workouts. I almost feel like I can be active again. February should be a better month for that.
HOME: Spend 2 hours decluttering each month. Done for January! My mother passed nearly 3 years ago and I ended up with all of her belongings. Two weekends ago, I managed to work through the last of her clothing, which felt pretty good. Next up will be papers……. yikes.
FUN: Book 3 hour-long personal training boxing sessions for my birthday in April. $150 Set aside $38 for this goal in January.
PERSONAL GROWTH: Read 12 books (business/financial/leadership) by EOY. I finished “How To Start A Blog Like A Boss,” by Sherry of Save.Spend.Splurge. Should read it again, but plan to finish another book in the meantime.
How are your goals coming along?
